Scherry Valentine
4th GRADE TEACHER & ART
Scherry has over 13 years of experience in Waldorf Education and more than 20 years of experience working closely with children and their families within a professional setting. Scherry embodies the principles of Waldorf Education though her committed study and reverence for the pedagogical work of Rudolf Steiner, as well as her deep interest in Anthroposophy. Scherry is skilled in researching and designing Waldorf curriculum, imbuing the material with artistic life, and presenting her main lesson with flexibility and enthusiasm. In 2013, Scherry became a member of the Anthroposophical Society in Dornoch, Switzerland after two years of study and mentorship with the Novalis Branch of the Anthroposophical Society in Austin, Texas.
Scherry has studied painting in the “Gerard Wagner” method of painting “Form out of Colour”, for over 12 years under the direction and guidance of a painting graduate from the Painting School at the Geotheanum in Dornoch, Switzerland. Scherry has a sincere interest in the world around her, and she is delighted to discover and explore new ideas, new people, places, and things. Serendipitously, it is through her experience as a Waldorf Grades teacher, that she has developed an unexpected, yet remarkable passion for the dramatic arts. She enjoys writing scripts, adapting plays, constructing props, making costumes, and lovingly leading actors through the creative process and live performance.
In her leisure time, Scherry enjoys spending time with her son Mark; in which they often discuss and debate politics, ponder the meaning of life, and engage in rigorous bouts of table tennis.
